King’s Cross Central, the area behind King’s Cross and St Pancras stations, has launched a monster trail, which is running up to and including Hallowe’en at the end of this map. Like all good trails, it comes with a specially created trail map, part of which is included here (to not spoil the surprise!) – a paper version of the complete map can be picked up from the area’s Visitor Centre at 11 Stable Street (not open on Sundays). As a bonus, on 31 October in the afternoon, there will also be characters dressed up.
We like the simple, bold colours of the map, with Hallowe’en luminous greens, blacks and purples predominating. The designers resist the temptation to cover the map with a classic orange “pumpkin” theming, and instead go for something more contemporary. We particularly like the Regent’s Canal showing as a luminous green “streak” of slime. Suggested food stops along the trail are shown with cat spoons. George the cat appears in various place on the map and on the ground too.
Remember to visit on or before 31 October. King’s Cross does have a permanent family trail but it won’t have George or the various Hallowe’en style extras, after that date!
