Not long now until Christmas Day – if you are having a last minute present crisis, our list includes direct links, so you can browse, order, sit back and relax in the knowledge that the present selections for your London map geek friends (or yourself!) are all sorted.

Books

London: The Information Capital

– The ground-breaking book on data, graphics and maps about London, by Mapping London co-editor Dr James Cheshire, has been recently published in a softback edition and is currently available for the bargain price of just £10.49. See our review or get it on Amazon.

Curiocity: In Pursuit of London

– This huge, whimsical and alternatively focused compendium of London was published earlier this year. See our review or get it on Amazon.

Where the Animals Go: Tracking Wildlife with Technology in 50 Maps and Graphics

– The second book by James is newly out. Find out, in a series of stories, maps and graphics how animals migrate and move through the world. Yes, there is a London map in it! Guess which creature it features? Get the book on Amazon.

The London County Council Bomb Damage Maps: 1939-1945

– We’re highlighting this one as it’s been a consistent best-seller with readers of Mapping London since it was released just over a year ago. A weighty tome reproducing the detailed, carefully coloured maps of districts of London, showing the damage wrought by the Blitz of London and other attacks during the Second World War. The maps were painstakingly drawn for the London County Council, shortly after the war’s end. See our review or get it on Amazon.

The Great British Colouring Map: A Colouring Journey Around Britain

– The Ordnance Survey has removed the colour from some of its most distinct maps, and combined them into a new book for you to colour in, including a four-page centerfold of central London. The maps are printed on suitably textured art paper and the book is big! Bring your full set of coloured pencils. See our review or get it on Amazon.

Prints

Walk With Me Maps

– These are rrecently released seven maps of iconic London districts, each one drawn and illustrated by a local artist. Choose from Soho, Hackney, Peckham, Dalston, Notting Hill, Shoreditch or Camden Town. See our review of one of the maps or get them at the Walk With Me store.

Electric Tube

– My own little store is still selling my Electric Tube print and a couple of language-based ones. Look out for more prints in the New Year!

Stocking Fillers

Steel Tube Map!

– Nice as TfL’s free pocket tube maps are, we love the idea of having a more durable tube map in our wallets – and, particularly, credit-card sizeds one made of brushed steel. The Suck UK Tube Map is what you want. See our review or get it on Amazon.

Brutalist London

– Blue Crow Media regularly and steadily are producing distinctive specialist maps of London architecture. We particularly like their recent Brutalist London map, the design of the map itself is as distinctive as the buildings it highlights. See our review or get it at the Blue Crow Media shop.

Clothes

Showerpass Cycling Jacket

– Finally, for the London cyclist that has everything, a flourescent, reflective, breathable cycling jacket that uses the street network of London and other cities to form a reflective dazzle pattern, for maximum visibility. See our review or get it at Showerspass.
